至於為什麼如此擬定策略， Brown 直言這是最穩妥的方式，「 Poirier 有很多贏得比賽的方式，他此前通過各種方法擊敗過對手，我們只是不知道這一次他將如何擊敗 Conor 。我的意思是， Poirier 也有很棒的打擊力量， KO 絕對是他獲勝的方法之一。而除了打擊之外，他也有透過地面技降服對手的能力，另外也可以通過判定獲勝，他贏得比賽的方法有很多。不過我們必須考慮到他輸掉比賽的可能性，因為 Conor 非常的危險。」

Poirier 過去擊敗過多位前冠軍，包括 Justin Gaethje 、 Anthony Pettis 、 Eddie Alvarez 、 McGregor 和 Max Holloway ，他日前也在推特上放話，稱自己是「 UFC 的無冕王」。
同時他也希望 UFC 官方能在現任輕量級拳王 Khabib Nurmagomedov 不願復出的情況下，剝奪他的冠軍頭銜，好讓其他人有挑戰的機會，對此 Brown 也表示贊同。
