2023 年上映的《芭比》橫掃全球票房，最終狂收超過 14 億美元（約新台幣419億元），成為華納兄弟影史最賣座作品之一。就在電影大成功後，續集計畫卻意外卡關，外媒近日爆料，華納兄弟與主創團隊經過長時間協商還是沒有達成共識，甚至傳出瑪格羅比與萊恩葛斯林兩大主演合計開出約 7000 萬美元（約新台幣 21 億元）的高額片酬與分紅，恐怕讓續集難產。

據悉，華納過去 3 年間已陸續提出超過 6 次合作邀約，今年更端出被形容是「足以改變人生」的超級待遇，卻依舊沒有換來團隊點頭。除了薪酬之外，也與首集簽約時沒有預留續集優先權有關，當初沒有人想到《芭比》會成為現象級電影，因此導演葛莉塔潔薇與共同編劇諾亞鮑姆巴赫沒有被綁定續作合約。

如今萊恩葛斯林傳出要求 2000 萬美元（約新台幣 6 億元）片酬才願意回歸肯尼，而身兼主演、製片的瑪格羅比早在第一集已經拿到約 5000 萬美元（約 16 億元新台幣）的片酬與分紅，因此如果要拍續集恐怕價格要繼續往上漲。
更麻煩的是，葛莉塔潔薇與諾亞鮑姆巴赫雖然傳出已經有續集方向，卻不願意在正式簽約前透露劇本內容，也不打算提前投入創作，讓華納面臨不小的時間壓力。據了解，片商只剩下約 4 個月時間讓下一部《芭比》正式進入開發階段，否則相關影視改編權可能重新回到玩具大廠美泰兒手中，到時候不只無法延續原作電影建立的世界觀，甚至可能得從頭打造全新的版本。
