隨著季後賽首輪即將展開，金州勇士將迎戰休士頓火箭，話題性十足。知名NBA記者Shams Charania 近日在節目《NBA Today》中直言，若勇士想在這輪系列賽走得更遠，「激活 Jonathan Kuminga 」將是關鍵之一。

Shams 指出：「這輪系列賽必須要激活 Kuminga ，火箭有一群飛天遁地的年輕野獸，而Kuminga同樣具備這種活力。這也是勇士當年選中 Kuminga 的原因之一，更是球隊管理層一直對他寄予厚望的根本原因。」
然而，Kuminga 近況並不理想。Shams 透露：「由於附加賽賽程殘酷、幾乎是背靠背的安排， Steve Kerr 教練直接告訴 Kuminga 他不在輪換名單中。對 Kuminga 來說，這幾乎是他職業生涯的至暗時刻。要知道，在他受傷前的表現是場均21分，他早已證明自己是聯盟中頂尖的運動型得分手。」

Kuminga 目前已經從腳踝傷勢中康復歸隊，但 Charania 指出，他在球隊中的角色出現明顯變化：「賽季初他還是勇士的持球進攻核心，如今球隊卻希望他扮演類似Andrew Wiggins 當年的角色，專注於無球切入、防守與空接終結。」
Charania 強調，勇士教練團必須思考如何正確地使用 Kuminga ：「重點是，如何最大化 Kuminga 的價值？如果勇士能找到他正確的使用說明書，我相信他有能力將球隊帶到一個全新的高度。」
