影片中數名快艇球員也被拍到隨之大笑，外界因此質疑這段對話是否印證了Lue與Paul之間的緊張關係；兩人據傳在快艇本週震撼宣布與 Paul 分手前，早已形同陌路。
然而，前快艇後衛 Bones Hyland 在週五出面 替Lue 澄清，強調這是教練與球員間的日常玩笑，並無敵意。

Hyland在轉發影片時寫道：「以我對 TLue 的了解，他平常就是這樣跟我們開玩笑。他是很好的教練、很好的人，他和球員之間就是能用這樣的語氣互動，完全沒有惡意，只是打鬧。」
此外，《The Athletic》記者 Joe Vardon 補充更多背景，指出影片拍攝於季前訓練，「當時還沒有任何矛盾」。Lue的發言本意就是對著 Paul 開玩笑，而 Paul 本人也站在距離不遠處，聽得一清二楚。
