本次交易內容紐約尼克除了得到這位明星後衛外，另外還有得分後衛 Justin Holiday  以及 2017 年的二輪選秀籤，公牛則得到中鋒 Robin Lopez 、西班牙控衛 Jose Calderon 和 Jerian Grant 。

紐約尼克缺少一名主力控衛以及輔佐甜瓜的星級選手一直都不是秘密，雖然 Derrick Rose 在前幾年因為重大傷痛而引響了本季的表現，但過去 MVP 的身手絕對是不容置疑的，而 Rose 數據的下滑也多少和公牛重心逐漸轉移到 Jimmy Butler 身上有關。
